the exact file to be modified is in the header of the diff; it is more correct in case than the filename, and specifies which jar. once applied, point to an atom feed where each entry is a well-formed, message/rfc822 header. this may require some faking, as real headers are insecure. currently the content from the feed is written one attachment at a time to a folder. badly formed content will result in badly formed folders. we should generate our own clean headers for display using data from the content; the css used to display "headers" can be used effectively.
