StubMail

A mail system which is:

• Open source
• Sender-stores
• Spam Free (and spam-filter free)
• Secure

We now have a working prototype: stubmail.tgz

• GPG provides the security:
  • Only people in your GPG keyring may send you mail.
  • You don't have to learn GPG.
  • Stubmail creats your keypair for each local sender.
  • Stubmail automatically fetches and adds other user's keys to your keyring when you send them mail.
• Adoption is easy:
  • SMTP gateway accepts outbound mail and saves it to server.
  • Mail fetch appends retrieved messages to a standard mailq.
  • Mail sent to recipients who do not accept stubmail will be passed to your traditional SMTP server for delivery.
• Multi-platform:
  • Written in perl.
  • Standard TCP/IP socket provides interface to any mail agent using SMTP.

  Much of the source tree is obsolete under the current implementation. The only files used are in the tgz above (bin/http2mbox2, bin/smtp2stub, bin/Stubmail.pm, cgi/post_manager and Makefile). Simply run "make install" to install the perl module and scripts in /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl and /usr/local/bin
